Summary[]

A tree grew too big and must be cut down, which the boys attempt by ax, but even the patriarchal chainsaw proves a hard call, with the women commenting meanly. Matt cunningly cues his lover Colleen, invited for her first family brunch, to handle the many sensitivities, and she scores even with Tim's kids who simply seeks cahoots to get to 'contraband'. Greg gets abuse instead of gratitude when having volunteered to stock up at night he's arrested by a cop by the book. Greg is indignant Heather 'accidentally' threw some of his favorite old stuff in the garbage, yet saves her bacon when all her draconian attempts to prevent the kids intervening with an email to prevent her being enlisted for another kids farm trip fail utterly.

Sleep Deprived[]

Jen is awoken by Lark crying and tries to get Greg to go instead, putting the baby monitor next to his ear and then when that fails, hitting him with it. They both go, Greg almost warming up sausages instead of the baby bottle. Jen realizes they're on their last diaper and says that she must have dreamed that she bought more, she asks Greg to be her best friend and go pick up more from the mini mart. Greg caves when she starts crying and she asks him to also get her a slushie.

Greg buys a slushie and diapers, then sees the hot dogs in the machone by the counter. He asks how long they've been there and the attendant says that they legally have to call them Wizard Fingers since they've been there for longer than six hours, and after another six hours they legally have to say Meat Straws. Greg takes two and heads home, getting stopped by a cop that tells him he was driving 14 miles an hour. Greg says that it felt like he was flying and tries to bribe the cop with a half eaten wizard finger and the slushie. The cop makes him preform a few tests to see if he's intoxicated, and when Greg passes the breathalyzer, he says he knows Greg is on something and will have to bring him down to the station. Greg tries to let him get the diapers to Jen, and the cop points out that there are no diapers in the car. Greg explains he was distracted by the wizard and left them in the store, the cop asks about the wizard and Greg agrees to get into the cruiser.

Greg calls Jen from the cop car to explain the situation and she complains that he's getting a night off while she still has to deal with their crying baby, but while she's complaining to him he falls asleep in the back of the cruiser. Jen then has to go to the store for diapers and at the register asks for four wizard fingers. The attendant asks if she wants to make it five and get a fist, and she agrees saying "fist me".
